It looks delicious! I want to make some! Question for you? Was Harold taking care of the mixing bowl like we used to when mama would make goodies? LOL

Why is the baking soda needed? What does it do?

I ask because usually baking soda in cakes or cookies helps with browning when baking but this recipe calls for it as the last ingredient stirred in before turning it out onto the baking sheet to cool.

Adding baking soda to caramel keeps it from getting too dense to work with.
