I saw Mountain Cookin' with Missy make these beans a while back and I just had to try them. Harold and I love a bowl of beans with some cornbread. I think the secret ingredient might be the bacon grease. They were delicious!

What's the measurement for "scoops" for the bacon drippings?
Hi! You said you got this recipe from mountain cooking with Missy. She uses 1 pound EACH of pinto and northern beans. Your recipe calls for only 1/2 pound of northern beans. Any reason you go with less?
Do you parboil them or soak them overnight? I was always taught to parboil them to take some of the gas out of them.
I would prefer more liquid in those soup beans.
